Test & Analysis Engineering Manager - Global Manufacturer | HCMC

We are seeking an experienced Test & Analysis Engineering Manager to lead the testing and failure analysis function within the Quality organization. The role oversees laboratory operations, battery cell testing and technical investigations, ensuring products meet performance, reliability and safety requirements.

Working closely with R&D, Engineering, Manufacturing and global laboratory teams, you will drive testing strategies, root cause investigations and continuous improvement while developing the technical capabilities of the engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

Test Engineering & Laboratory Management

• Lead and develop the test engineering and failure analysis team, including coaching, performance management and technical capability development.
• Establish the strategic direction of testing, validation and failure analysis laboratories in line with business requirements.
• Manage laboratory operations, resources, equipment and operational efficiency.
• Develop testing plans and methodologies to validate lithium-ion battery cell performance, reliability and safety.
• Collaborate with global laboratories to ensure consistency in testing execution and data collection.

Failure Analysis & Root Cause Investigation

• Lead investigations into battery cell failures and identify underlying failure mechanisms.
• Apply appropriate analytical techniques, including SEM, EDS, XRD and EIS, to support failure analysis.
• Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions in collaboration with relevant engineering and manufacturing teams.
• Use risk assessments and test data to support decisions on product performance, reliability and failures.

Cross-functional Collaboration & Quality

• Work with R&D, Engineering and Manufacturing to integrate testing requirements into product development.
• Establish and maintain test plans, work instructions, technical reports and other testing documentation.
• Ensure testing activities comply with applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor testing performance, communicate progress and escalate technical risks to senior management.
• Promote a culture of quality, accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 8–10 years of experience in testing, failure analysis or quality, with a focus on lithium-ion battery technology.
• Proven experience managing and developing an engineering team.
• Experience overseeing test laboratories, including resource management, operational efficiency and optimization.
• Strong knowledge of lithium-ion battery testing methodologies, covering performance, reliability and safety.
• Experience with failure analysis techniques such as SEM, EDS, XRD, EIS or other relevant analytical methods.
• Experience developing test plans, procedures, methodologies and technical documentation.
• Good understanding of quality management principles and practices.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present technical findings and risks to senior management.
